By far there are more slabs to choose from than any other product I can think of but choosing a design of paver is just the start- have you thought about the practicality? You see because of our wide and long experience in this field we have learnt a few things, we would like to pass the following thoughts on to you for your consideration!
look great, make tables/chairs wobble, take time to dry after being wet due to puddling, are a real pain when trying to sweep over, get dirty much quicker.
Tables don’t wobble, easy to sweep and keep clean, water runs off much quicker, feel better in bare feet.
We are unique in the way we lay our slabs and have found once laid we can give you a 10 year guarantee that they won’t move! We lay on a solid bed of semi dry sharp sand/cement bed. We mix the screed up 1 ton at a time, rake to a thickness of around 70mm then lay the slabs on 9 small mounds then packing the sides to give added strength, after the job is complete we mist hose the whole area, allow 1 hour for the surface to dry the dry grout the area so it bonds to the still damp mix under the slabs and sets all as one!
When choosing slabs we will try to advise you of the cheapest options available, remember you pay us to cover an area but a garden centre or suppliers best interest is to get you to purchase lots of small slabs which yes may look better but could add 30% more to your budget! If you want to break up a standard graph type pattern you can simply lay your slabs similar to your house brickwork pattern! This will use just 1 size of slab and look almost as good adding no extra costs 🙂
Please call us and we will walk you through all the options until you find what you want..
